All things work together for good for those who wait upon the lord,
the good book says. The following morning was a Sunday and delegates
went to the Methodist-Presby Union chapel to give praises and thanks
to the Almighty Lord for his protection and blessings on members and
the Amanfoo-Adehyee fraternity in general. David said I was glad when
the said to me, come let us go into the house of the Lord.
Alas and Alack, then jeered in one of the programmes of nostalgic
memories. The football match with the Santasi boys (Opoku Ware
Secondary Old Boys). At exactly 11:30am players and supporters trooped
to the University of Ghana main soccer field to watch the titanic
football clash. Players warmed up, were inspected and advised by the
Ghana division two referee and kick off started at exactly 12:30pm. I
wish you there, Fellow, to see for your self.
How the adroit Prempeh
boys tailored their passes together with some high professional
touches. In fact, the OWASS boys were no match at all. They were like
the Czech Republic in the face of the Black Stars at the 2006 Mundial.
The first half ended in a goalless draw.
During the recess, the Congress Team was given some professional pep
talks by the coach of the day, Senior Osei Tutu Kwame and his
technical men which comprised the Amanfoo-Adehyee president, Legon
branch, Senior Hanaan, and the Chairman of the Congress Planning
Committee, Senior Adabankah, which dramatically poised the boys for
immediate action in the second half.
In fact, the brilliant display of skills by the Congress Team
delighted everybody present more particularly the non Amanfoo- Owass,
supporters after the recess.
When time was far tickling away the Congress Coach decided to change
his tactics and made some sweeping substitutions and lo and behold the
deadlock was momentarily broken! It was a fantastic gooaaaall! The
first goal of the game! Ecstasy galooore!!!. Seniors and Adehyee
couldn't hide their joy and flocked to the field, embracing and
lifting high the players from all angles. The Santasi boys and their
supporters were dazed with the shocking goal and after they woke from
their slumber they disgracefully threw in the towel. They wouldn't
play again. They wouldn't want more disgrace this time round. For
disgrace and death, they would rather wish for death! Holalaaa!!
Prempeh boys and Adehyee delightedly hymned our anthems as the game
was brought to an abrupt end with the score line remaining 1 - 0 in
favour of the Champion Congress Team.
Members enjoyed some refreshing Kenkey with some mackerel after
demolishing the OWASS team. That was the kenkey party. After this,
guest delegates were fondly bade farewell, as they sojourned back to
their respective institutions at exactly 5pm. The screeching of the
buses left some nostalgic memories on the minds of all those who were
present to see our precious delegates off. The looming question was,
when will the moon completely revolve round the sun again for us to
meet together once more? God's time, the believers say, is always
the best!
